Assessing your legal needs from the outset
During an initial consultation, which often is provided without charge to individual clients, we assess the nature of the case, the issues involved, and whether the firm’s representation meets your legal needs.
The initial consultation with one of the firm principals is usually conducted in person. This permits potential clients to assess our credentials and determine if our firm is a good fit with their goals.
We conduct the initial 30 to 60-minute consultation in a completely confidential manner in compliance with the STET Professional Code of Conduct. Even if you do not retain our firm, your matter remains confidential.
Once we agree to provide legal services, you are asked to sign a retainer and pay an initial retention fee, if appropriate.
Developing a workable strategy
After we accept your case, our attorneys have a more in-depth conversation with you. We conduct a thorough investigation, consider all of your case’s strengths and weaknesses, and carefully develop a case plan that is aimed at meeting your goals.
We present clients with a memorandum describing our immediate plan, whether we are initiating or responding to a legal action. We also prepare a work plan that includes a budget and the number of hours expected to be worked by our partners and associate attorneys.
At least one partner and one associate work on every case so that our clients have multiple direct contacts who are familiar with all facets of their case.
Putting client priorities first throughout the legal process
Providing consistently superior service is our goal.
We provide regular status updates to every client, including a description of all tasks undertaken. This permits clients to be well-informed as to status of their case and allows clients to be involved in discussions and decisions.
Our status report also includes a statement of the attorneys’ time and costs charged to your legal matter. We believe you have the right to know how your money is being spent.
